At least two attractive hybrid models from Honda will be arriving in showrooms across the country this year. The 2019 Honda Insight will be new, while the 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid will enjoy many of the significant updates that graced the new 2018 Honda Accord sedan. With the expanding selection of hybrid cars available from Honda, we wanted to create a 2019 Honda Insight vs 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid comparison to see how these two models stack up.

2019 Honda Insight vs 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid

Both the 2019 Honda Insight and 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid are hybrid models, but they are designed to fill different driving needs. The Accord Hybrid is a midsize model, while the 2019 Insight will be a compact model. Both seat five passengers and come with a combined gas-and-electric powertrain that offers drivers the versatility of gas power with the efficiency of hybridization.

Both of these models will come with a two-motor hybrid powertrain. The gasoline engine of the 2019 Honda Insight be a 1.5-liter engine which operates as a generator for the motors. This system offers 151 horsepower. We are unsure of the available torque at this time. The 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid comes with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine which works with the motors to deliver propulsion. This system offers 212 horsepower and 232 horsepower.

Cargo Space and Features

The 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid has more horsepower than the 2019 Insight, but also has more bulk and interior space to move. The 2018 Accord Hybrid’s trunk space clocks in at 16.7 cubic feet. The 2019 Insight is not that far behind with an attractive (especially for a compact sedan) 15 cubic feet.
