Way back in June when we were getting teaser information about the 2018 Honda Accord (which is now available in our new Accord inventory here at Battison Honda) we gave a small overview of the powertrain options that were going to grace this redesigned sedan. The 2018 Honda Accord with its new 1.5-liter turbocharged engine launched in October, while the new Accord 2.0T had its grand dealership debut across the country just this month. We are also already looking forward to the hybrid powertrain that will arrive sometime next year. What is the most powerful engine on the 2018 Honda Accord? So far, it is the 2018 Accord 2.0T.

What is the most powerful engine on the 2018 Honda Accord?

While the 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine available on the 2018 Honda Accord will offer 192 horsepower and 192 pound-feet of torque (which is an increase in both power and torque compared to the base 2.4-liter engine on last year’s model), the 2.0-liter turbocharged VTEC Turbo® engine available on the Sport, EX-L, EX-L Navi and Touring trims of the 2018 Accord offers more horsepower and torque, coming in at 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque.

Not only does this engine offer the most engine output in the current 2018 Honda Accord lineup, but it offers the highest torque ever for the Accord. Torque often positively affects acceleration, which can make having a lot of torque an asset in getting up to speed in highway or city traffic.

Transmission Options with the 2018 Accord 2.0T

The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine on the 2018 Honda Accord will come mated to one of two transmission options. Most models, including the top-of-the-line Accord Touring trim featured in our main image, will have a segment-first 10-speed automatic transmission. The 2018 Honda Accord 2.0T Sport is also available with a short-throw six-speed manual transmission that can give drivers a more hands-on driving experience.
